Mikey Musumeci is just one of four Americans to win an IBJJF World Championships at Black Belt. In this video series Mikey shows us a five Berimbolo techniques from De la Riva guard that you can use to surprise and submit your opponent.
This is a variation of the previous sweep in which your opponent’s body drops to the mat, either because your opponent is attempting to counter the Berimbolo, or you failed to effectively cup with your hand and control your opponent’s hip.
Using the same setup as before, this is a great second option to the previous move in the event your opponent straightens his knee to eliminate any optimal angle for the straight foot lock. For brown and black.
In this particular technique, Mikey can assess the level of his control during transition. Making this quick read, Mikey can evaluate and potentially change his attack from a sweep to a submission instead.
