Instead of relying on a hard sprawl, or cross face, give this technique a try. It works well if your opponent has a deep single leg and is grabbing around the thigh.
- Issue 41
This defense is another good counter for the single leg. If for whatever reason you can’t perform the first defense, this is a good option. I’ve also found this worked well if your opponent grabs lower on the leg and your knee is off the ground.
- Issue 41
Now that you’ve taken the back, you have to try to finish. One of my personal favorites has always been the bow and arrow choke. It’s not always a sure thing, and changing it into a reverse triangle is a great alternative.
- Issue 41
If your opponent locks a tight triangle, this technique could save you from having to tap. It’s somewhat riskier but can come in handy when you have no other options.
